Higher Diploma in Library and Information Science (HDLIM) is a 4-semester program leading to a Higher Diploma. It is equal to the levels 2 and 3 of a three-year Diploma/Higher Diploma course.
Eligibility Criteria
Completed a one-year Diploma OR Level 1 of three-year Diploma in Library and Information Science/Library and Information Management.
Examples for eligible Diplomas:
- 1st year of Diploma in Library and Information Management offered by NILIS
- 1st year of Diploma in Library and Information Science offered by SLLA and University of Kelaniya
- Diploma in School Librarianship offered by NILIS
- Diploma in Public Librarianship offered by NILIS
Course duration: 02 years (04 semesters)
Medium of instruction: Sinhala/Tamil
- Sinhala Medium – University of Colombo, Kandy, Kurunegala and Badulla
- Tamil Medium – Kandy Center
Delivery of lessons:
Courses are held on weekends (Colombo – Sunday, Other centers – Saturday). Some classes will be held online. Students must complete continuous assessments for each module. Attendance of over 80% is required to sit for semester-end exams.
Total Fee: Rs.84,000 (Payable in 04 installments)
