OVERVIEW
According to SLQF, building on an area in which candidates already have expertise, gained at undergraduate level are defined as extension programmes. Extention candidates get the same SLQF level displayed here. However, conversion candidates (graduates of other subjects obtaining PGDIM or MIM are defined as conversion programmes) are placed at SLQF level 6 even after completion of Level 7 or 8. However, all candidates following PGDIM and them moving into MIM get SLQF 8 lvel qualification.
Duration

Entry Requirements :
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar field.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in any field with at least two years of relevant experience in the Library and Information Science (LIS) field.
- A Diploma in Library and Information Science from NILIS or the Sri Lanka Library Association, or a Higher Diploma in Library and Information Science from the University of Kelaniya, or a Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science or an equivalent qualification, with at least three years of relevant experience.
- A Diploma in Education from a recognised university or institution with at least four years of relevant experience.
- A National Diploma in Teaching from a College of Education, specialising in Library and Information Science or Information Technology, with at least four years of relevant experience.
- Any other equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to NILIS.
