Both nationally and internationally acclaimed as an institution specialized in educating Teacher Librarians, it has contributed in a major way to Information Literacy Education and research.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Established in 2004, NILIS has been hosting its Annual Research Symposium for many years, with the 7th iteration scheduled for October 24, 2024. This symposium is a key component of the broader Annual Research Symposium of the University of Colombo, which this year is themed <strong>\u201cBuilding a Sustainable Future Through Impactful Research.<\/strong>\u201d The main theme for this year&#8217;s NILIS International Research Symposium is \u201c<strong>Envisioning Tomorrow\u2019s Libraries: Integrating Emerging Trends Through Impactful Research.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In the past, our symposiums have had themes such as Research Excellence in Library and Information Science, Mitigating Challenges in LIS Education, and Protection of Cultural Heritage.
